At our midweek meeting, the service overseer told us he had made a list of every home in our territories, and would be contacting them all shortly. Expect to see your elderly relatives being read to from the Bible book of horror stories, then taken back to their rooms for private discussions of doctrine, very soon. Don't say you weren't warned.

Protect the elderly
by defender of truth inthis weeks km is telling elders to arrange for group studies with people in local nursing homes, with instructions on how to word things when speaking to the directors etc.. they are clearly trying to get to people who may not be entirely able to think for themselves or who may lack critical thinking and yet may have money to leave to them.. what can you do?.
well, if you wanted to, write a short and simple letter or email to your local care home, perhaps directly even speak to the director yourself... warn them about the brainwashing and danger of breaking up of families etc.
the km says they should identify themselves as jw's... .

watchtowers army assault on our vulnerable elderly in nursing homes
by friendaroonie inits been a long time since i have been this enraged at the evilness and shameless exploitation by the jws.
i just got back from the meeting (dont ask) and sat through the km article laying out plans to mass convert nursing homes all over the world.
i am not going to labor the obvious ethical travesty of this plan but i will say that it constitutes a major public health risk.

LV101: "I hope nursing homes are warned."...
Hope is free, take as much as you want. Seeing as you clearly do care, why not just write a short email or letter to a nearby home, to warn the manager? It can't do any harm, and it would be a lot more productive than posting 'I hope' on a message board.

I tried this myself mate, you're trying at least. Most on this site would rather leave the 'low hanging fruit' to be picked off, keep fighting if you have the will to..

Paragraph 1 of the KM: "Although perhaps limited in mobility or memory, elderly ones and others who live in nursing homesmay still be able to learn about, appreciate and come to love Jehovah"
Think about that. I'm done here.

I gather from the lack of response that people think this is a waste of time. Well fine. Let's just leave elderly ones with decreasing mental capacity and no internet access to be brainwashed.. Who cares, when they'll just pop their clogs soon anyway?!.. The apathy is staggering. I'm off to write a letter to my local home anyway. I won't waste another second here.

Theists, why does God allow suffering..
by The Quiet One in..specifically, the suffering of animals.
you can talk about free will/sin/people choosing to not listen to god etc to explain human suffering being allowed.. but how can you love a god that allows animals, that haven't sinned or chosen to not have anything to do with god, to have their short lives ended in often long, drawn out, painful ways.
i could list stories i've read that would probably make you feel ill, but i'm not looking to shock anyone or start an emotional debate.

So an animal couldn't enjoy it's life without the possibility of dying of cancer for example?

Feel free to share any ideas you have for a letter template, or just to say that you would consider it.

Apog: Guess you might be right there. But seeing as this creature replaces the fish's tongue and supposedly causes no other damage, it didn't sound like the best example of suffering when I read it. Anyway, I'd still love for someone to ask a Jehovahs Witness this question the next time they knock on your door..

Did God create cancer? Also, do you believe in the Biblical flood account? Thanks.
